ONE HOUR OF SUMMER

Behind ohos.

I’m Danny—an imperfect girl serving a perfect God

I want to share a little bit about why I started One Hour of Summer.

For so long, I was stuck in a cycle. I lost weight, only to gain it all back. I worked out, but only as a form of punishment. Never truly getting to the root of the issue or changing my habits. I hated my body, how I felt, and how I looked—yet I kept doing the same things that kept me trapped.

I had to take inventory of my life and reflect on all the areas that weren’t glorifying to Christ. And for me, my weight and the way I treated my body were a big part of that.

Binge eating, gluttony, feeding the flesh—I was giving in to desires that weren’t serving me or honoring God.

The Bible tells us that sin can oppress us, making us feel shackled. As Paul wrote in Romans 7:15-20: wanting to do what is right but feeling powerless against our own actions. I felt that deeply.

The truth is, being unhealthy affects more than just our bodies—it impacts our minds, our spirits, and ultimately, our mission. We are called to make disciples of all nations, to be bold, to be a light. But how can we fully live out that calling if we’re weighed down—physically, mentally, and spiritually? Psalm 139 reminds us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. If God crafted our bodies with such care, shouldn’t we honor Him by taking care of them?

One Hour of Summer is my daily reminder to love Him enough to love myself. To cherish this body He has given me, not from a place of vanity, but from a place of gratitude and stewardship.

And as I walk this journey, I want to walk it with you—my brothers and sisters in Christ. Let’s press deeper into Him. Let’s invite Him into every part of our lives, even the parts we try to control on our own. Let’s be in the Word, be a light, and lift each other up in accountability and love.

I pray that together, we can commit to loving and respecting Him enough to love and take care of ourselves.

I can’t thank you enough for your support—this is just the beginning.

With love,

Danny

A Disciple of Christ Jesus
